Protecting American Workers from Harmful Overreach

Hard work has always been the foundation of the American dream. Whether it’s building a business, learning a trade, or simply showing up day after day to provide for your family, work gives people the freedom, opportunity, and security to build a better life. Yet today, too many policies and decisions are being made that put political insiders, unelected bureaucrats, and special interests ahead of the very people who make our economy run: American workers.

That is why the Coalition to Protect American Workers (CPAW) was created. We believe that workers deserve a stronger voice and a fairer system—one that protects choice, respects the Constitution, and puts paychecks and opportunity first.

Our Mission

At CPAW, our mission is straightforward: to protect worker choice and restore balance in labor relations. We do this by fighting for policies that safeguard secret-ballot elections, due process, and the free exchange of information guaranteed by the First Amendment. These principles ensure that every worker can make decisions free from coercion, backroom deals, or political agendas.

Representation in the workplace should deliver real value. That means bigger paychecks, safer workplaces, and stronger skills for the future. Workers benefit when representation is about improving lives, not about advancing partisan causes, funneling worker dues into politics, and using the government to impose representation workers never asked for.

We oppose harmful overreach that sidelines workers, rewrites rules by administrative fiat, or hands power to bureaucrats with an agenda. Congress, not unelected agencies, sets labor law, and that constitutional balance must be respected.

Why This Matters Now

Across the country, the system meant to serve workers has increasingly been politicized. Under the Biden administration, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) advanced sweeping changes that overturned decades of precedent—without action from Congress or meaningful input from workers themselves. These changes weakened the right to a private ballot, tilted the scales in workplace disputes, and made it harder for employees to speak freely about their choices.

Meanwhile, large private-sector unions continue to use their influence not just in workplaces, but in politics—channeling billions of dollars into causes and candidates that often don’t reflect the views of the workers paying the bills. Many employees never even realize where their money is going, let alone get a real say in it.

This isn’t fairness. It isn’t worker empowerment. And it certainly doesn’t reflect the values that make America strong.

Our Vision

We envision a labor system that puts workers, not political insiders, at the center of policy. That means restoring trust in workplace elections, strengthening transparency, and ensuring that decisions are made by those closest to the issues: the workers themselves.

By advancing commonsense, pro-worker, pro-growth reforms, CPAW is working to create an environment where every American has the opportunity to thrive. A system that rewards hard work and independence. A system that respects constitutional boundaries. A system where workers, not political operatives, are in charge of their own future.

That is what we are fighting for.
