CPAW Urges Senate HELP Committee to Swiftly Confirm Macy and Prouty to the NLRB

American workers have waited long enough: the Board needs the votes to finish the job.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Coalition to Protect American Workers (CPAW) today called on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee to swiftly advance the nominations of James Macy and David Prouty to the National Labor Relations Board, ahead of today's confirmation hearing chaired by Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA).

American workers are still living under the shadow of Biden-era NLRB policies that stripped employers of their ability to share information with employees, allowed unions to freeze elections through procedural blocking charges, and, through the Cemex bargaining order decision, made it possible to impose union representation on workers without a secret-ballot vote. The NLRB currently lacks the 3-vote majority needed by Board tradition to overturn these precedents. James Macy's confirmation would provide exactly that.

Macy brings over four decades of management-side labor law experience and currently serves at the U.S. Department of Labor. He is a principled, qualified nominee who understands what a fair and balanced labor system looks like. Confirming both Macy and Prouty also ensures the Board retains its quorum before Member Prouty's current term expires in August, a critical deadline that cannot be ignored.

Workers deserve a Board that respects their right to vote, their right to hear both sides, and their right to due process. Today's hearing is a critical step toward delivering that.
