CPAW Welcomes Nomination of James Macy to NLRB, Urges Senate to Act Without Delay
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Coalition to Protect American Workers (CPAW) today welcomed President Trump's nomination of James Macy to serve as a Member of the National Labor Relations Board and called on the Senate to move swiftly to confirm him.
Macy currently serves as Director of the Department of Labor's Office of Workers' Compensation Programs and previously served as Acting Administrator of the Wage and Hour Division. Before joining the administration, he built a distinguished career as a management-side labor and employment attorney. His real-world experience, in both the private sector and inside the federal government, makes him a strong, credentialed addition to a Board now positioned to deliver lasting, pro-worker reform.
We look forward to Macy joining Chairman Murphy, Member Mayer, and Member Prouty on the Board and working together to restore an agency that for too long operated as an arm of partisan union leadership rather than a neutral protector of worker rights. A stronger, fully functioning Board means faster action on the pro-worker priorities American workers have waited years to see advanced.
"This nomination is another step toward an NLRB that actually works for the American people," said Gene Hamilton, Senior Advisor to CPAW. "American workers deserve a Board that protects the secret ballot, ensures they hear from both sides, and stops rewarding union leadership's political games at the expense of the workers funding them. The Senate should confirm him without delay — American workers cannot afford more gridlock while the Board sits short-handed and Biden-era policies remain on the books."
CPAW urges the Senate HELP Committee to take up Macy's nomination promptly and bring it to the floor for a swift confirmation vote.
