Senate Confirms Trump Nominees, Restoring a Full NLRB and Laying the Groundwork for the End of Ideological Rulemaking

Washington, D.C. — The Coalition to Protect American Workers (CPAW) today welcomed the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Scott Mayer and James Murphy as Members and Crystal Carey as General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). With these confirmations, the Board regains a full quorum for the first time since early 2025, marking a turning point after years of politicized decision-making and regulatory overreach.

“With a full Board now confirmed, the era of rulemaking by ideology must end,” said Gene Hamilton, Senior Advisor to CPAW. “For years, the NLRB drifted away from its core mission and chose to advance Democratic political interests and protect union power structures instead of respecting the choices of American workers. President Trump’s nominees bring experienced, serious leadership back to the Board — leadership that understands a strong labor system depends on the rule of law, secret ballots, and clear, predictable rules. These confirmations equip the Board with what is needed to fulfill its statutory mandate and serve American workers, not political machines.”

As the restored Board begins its work, CPAW looks forward to progress on key priorities that strengthen worker confidence and due process:

  • Re-center Representation Elections: Roll back Cemex-era bargaining orders so representation is earned through secret-ballot votes — not imposed.

  • Protect Workers’ Right to Information: Reinstate clearly noticed employer meetings so employees can hear factual information from both employers and union organizers before deciding.

  • End Procedural Election Delays: Reverse blocking charge rules that stall or derail elections, including decertifications, absent proven misconduct.

  • Promote Transparency in Organizing: Strengthen guardrails around paid “salting” campaigns that destabilize workplaces and distort worker choice.

With President Trump’s nominees now confirmed, CPAW looks forward to a productive new chapter at the NLRB — one grounded in fairness, transparency, and respect for American workers’ decisions. CPAW welcomes efforts by the new Board to unwind Biden-era overreach and restore a labor system where working Americans, not partisan politics or union power brokers, come first.
